Jon Elliott Experience/Education: NASM-CPT, 2005 Living an active, healthy lifestyle is anything but new to me. My initial motivation was cultivated somewhere between 1st and 3rd grade while playing soccer right here in Eugene Oregon. That is, it became very clear to me that if two teams of equal skill played each other, the team with a greater degree of fitness would prevail. Soon I began spending my recess faithfully running laps around the track, and too this day, have in a sense never stopped. However, eventually my motivation matured into a desire to improve my physical and mental health, as well as discover who I was and my true potential. My curiosity and insatiable appetite for knowledge led me to earn my B.S. in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon, with an ultimate goal of attaining a doctorate in a similar field and teaching at the college level. There is no doubt fitness will always be a large part of my life for a multitude of reasons, all of which I strive to instill into each of my clients every single workout. Perhaps the most fundamental value would be a simple love and appreciation for fitness. Nothing makes me happier than to hear a client express how much fun they are having, how much better they are feeling, or better yet, how important this has become to them. Moments like these truly fuel my commitment, desire and motivation for what I do. Between my admittedly odd obsession with running laps at recess and my current passion for Olympic style weightlifting, I have dabbled in many other athletic endeavors. Including soccer, basketball, wrestling, martial arts (Jeet Kune Do and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu), triathalon training, marathon training as well as strictly weight training which I began 12 years ago. The profound connection between physical and mental health was best illustrated to me through weight training and is without question the reason for my unparalleled commitment. Furthermore I have close to three years of work experience in the world of physical therapy and rehabilitation, most of which coming from the Out Patient and In Patient Rehabilitation centers in Sacred Heart Medical Center that only intensified these feelings. From this I have developed a keen eye for many subtle abnormalities in physical movement and a large repertoire of tools to correct, stabilize and strengthen target locations while training the body to move as the fluid unit nature intended.
