Experience/ Education:

ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, 2008.
B.S. Human Physiology, University of Oregon, 2007.

I have always been a very active individual. Growing up I was involved in gymnastics, dance, and Pilates. When I graduated from high school it was a natural progression for me to go from my country home of Santa Fe, New Mexico to the big city of Manhattan for a career in dance. After an injury while training as a professional contemporary dancer at Marymount Manhattan College, I became fascinated with the rehabilitation process. It was this fascination, and my newfound dedication to a healthy body, that motivated me to pursue a career in physical therapy. After graduating from the University of Oregon with my degree in human physiology, I worked in numerous physical therapy settings, including in-patient and out-patient clinics. The knowledge and experience I gained in those settings was invaluable to me and heightened my excitement in my path to become a practitioner.

As I continue to work towards my professional goal, I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Carpe Diem family. It is in my experience and practice as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor that I begin to take my theoretical knowledge of movement and the rehabilitation process and apply it to each unique individual. Through the teacher-student nature of personal training, each person is then able to find their own potential in fitness and function and ultimately reach their highest goals. As I continue to return to greater and greater function after my injury, I have come to understand and believe that the fitness industry can fill the gap between rehabilitation and functional movement.
